Life is Precious

For those who call on God's name, life is precious and sacred. And the life most precious and sacred is the one which, today, hangs in the balance between now and eternity.
Life is Precious

My heart grieves for our nation tonight.

The division.

The violence.

The hatred.

The inability to disagree and still communicate.

Lives lost and families shattered.

Calling on God's name but refusing to live and love accordingly.

How long, O Lord?

Regardless of where any of us stand on the politics and policies, I hope we can agree that the procedures used to carry them out are unkind, unnecessary, and devoid of God-honoring Christlikeness.

Have we forgotten that strength lies in the power to not respond in kind?

Good parents know this.
Good pastors know this.
Good people know this.
Jesus knew this.

Evil cannot be overcome with evil (it just creates more evil)... but only with good... with grace, even when hard choices and firm actions are required.

The killing of a human being, made in the image of God, is a terrible result. It's never good and shouldn't be dismissed too quickly. We need to look at such things soberly and carefully, rather than succumbing to the pressure to quickly defend our chosen positions.(And possibly be willing to listen well to those who see things differently)

For those who call on God's name, life is precious and sacred. And the life most precious and sacred is the one which, today, hangs in the balance between now and eternity.
